The Main Window

The window contains:

  • Options button to activate the Options dialog box, where you can view and change the software's settings.
  • Help button to pop-up the Help menu containing some additional help commands including exiting Asutype.
  • Speller button to activate the Speller panel (see below), where you can control how Asutype checks and corrects spelling.
  • Expander button to activate the Expander panel (see below), where you can control how Asutype expands text shortcuts.
  • Hide to Systray button to hide the window.

The Speller Panel

The Speller panel controls how Asutype detects and corrects mistakes.

Spelling Dictionaries
To bring up the Spelling Dictionaries editor, where you can create, open, view and edit any spelling dictionary.

Beep on mistakes
If checked, Asutype will beep on every detected mistake as you type.

Highlight mistakes
If checked, Asutype will mark every detected mistake by a red underline under the mistake as you type.

General Corrections
To bring up the General Corrections dialog box where you can set Asutype to correct general mistakes such as TWo INitial CApitals, accidental use of cAPS LOCK key etc.

Correct recognized mistakes
If checked, Asutype will automatically correct every recognized mistake as you type.

Correction Lists
To bring up the Correction Lists editor, where you can create, open, view and edit any correction list.

Correct unrecognized mistakes
If checked, Asutype will correct every unrecognized mistake as you type.

Correct unrecognized mistakes | Automatically
If selected, Asutype will automatically guess at a fix and correct every unrecognized mistake as you type (Note: use this option with caution, since the guessed correction may not be the very word you intended to type).

Correct unrecognized mistakes | Interactively
If selected, Asutype will immediately show you some choices and have you choose or not choose one to correct a mistake as you type.

Mistakes review
To bring up the Mistakes Review dialog box, where you can review and process all accumulated mistakes you've made so far.

The Expander Panel

The Expander panel controls how Asutype expands text shortcuts.

Shortcut Lists
To bring up the Shortcut Lists editor, where you can create, open view and edit any shortcut list.

Use shortcuts for fast typing
If checked, Asutype will automatically replace any text shortcut by its full content as you type.

Show shortcut hints before expanding
If checked, Asutype will show the possible shortcut content in a yellow window at the top of your current working document as a hint before expanding it.

Activate the Main Window

  • Right click the running icon and choose "Asutype" command.

Close the Main Window

Either:

  • Click "x" button in the title bar.
  • Or, click "Hide to Systray" button.
  • Or, press key.

Note: When the main window is hidden, its icon will disappear from the task bar. Asutype only shows up as a running icon in the system tray, near the clock.

Start Asutype with the Main Window Displaying

Launch Asutype while pressing SHIFT key.
