The Spelling Dictionaries Editor

Use this editor to create, open, view and edit your spelling dictionaries. Asutype supports multiple spelling dictionaries and you can open as many dictionaries to work with as you wish.

The Spelling Dictionaries Editor

  • All open dictionaries are listed in a tabbed row at the top of the editor. There is a small icon next to each dictionary name:
    • The round shape icon (o) means the dictionary has been modified and needs to be saved. Otherwise the shape is diamond (o).
    • The red color icon means the dictionary contains a word currently in the "Word" box. Otherwise the color is gray.
    • The [x] mark after the name of a dictionary denotes the dictionary is built-in: you can delete entries from a built-in dictionary but cannot add new entries into it.
  • The current editing dictionary is visible.
  • To select a dictionary, click its tab. The selected dictionary will become the current editing dictionary.

A plain text file that Asutype imports/exports words from/to is a plain ANSI or UNICODE text file (e.g. no formatting information such as bold, italic, tables, images etc. - you can use NotePad to create a plain text file) with each word in a single line. Lines starting with a semicolon (;) are comment lines. Blank lines and comment lines will be ignored when importing. For example:
