The Suggestion Pop-up Window
Asutype uses this suggestion pop-up window to show you some choices and possible actions you may take to handle the current mistake:
- The choices are numbered and listed in the white list at the top of the window.
- The available main actions are listed in the yellow list at the bottom of the window.
Asutype shows the suggestion pop-up window in either mode below:
- Pop-up And Wait: Asutype stops your typing until you close the window either by choosing a choice or taking an extra action.
- Pop-up And Type: Asutype shows the window but doesn't stop your typing. Asutype will automatically close the window if you don't choose any choice or take any extra action in 15 seconds or after 64 keystrokes.
Note: The default mode is Pop-up And Type. You can choose the Pop-up And Wait mode by checking the "Pop-up and wait" checkbox in the Corrections Options dialog box.
Activate the Suggestion Pop-up Window
- In Interactive Correction mode, Asutype automatically shows you the suggestion pop-up window if you make a mistake while typing.
- At any time, you can activate the suggestion pop-up window for an on-screen mistake by either:
- Ctrl+right click the mistake using your mouse
- Or, place the caret inside the mistake and press <CTRL+SHIFT+A+W>
Note: You can change the hot key to any keyboard combination by modifying the "Activate the Suggestion Pop-up Window by Keyboard" or "Activate the Suggestion Pop-up Window by Mouse" hot keys in the Hot Keys Options dialog box.
Close the Suggestion Pop-up Window
Either:
- Press <ESCAPE>
- Or, press <SPACE> twice (Pop-up And Wait mode only)
- Or, choose a choice (see below)
- Or, take an extra action (see below)
Choose a Choice
Either:
- Press the choice number
- Or, click the choice using your mouse
- Or, select the choice using arrow keys and press <ENTER>

Recognize a new correct word
If the highlighted word is valid but Asutype doesn't recognize it, you might want to add it into your own spelling dictionary and have it correctly recognized the next time.
- Press <F2> to add the word into the current hot spelling dictionary.
- Press <CTRL+F2> to choose another dictionary to add the word into. The newly selected dictionary will become the current hot spelling dictionary.
Note:
- <F2> action is available only if you have at least one non-built-in spelling dictionary open.
- <CTRL+F2> action is available only if you have more than one non-built-in spelling dictionary open.
- To open a dictionary, use the Spelling Dictionaries editor.
- (Trial Version only): The free trial version cannot save data changes permanently. Though you can add new words into a spelling dictionary, those words are available in the current working session only; they will be discarded when you exit Asutype. If you want to save your data permanently, use the full version instead.
Recognize a new mistake
If you think the mistake is frequently made, you might want to add it along with its correction into your own correction list and have it automatically corrected the next time if you make the mistake again.
- Select the proper choice using arrow keys and press <0> to add it into the current hot correction list.
- Press <CTRL+0> to choose another list to add the mistake into. The newly chosen list will become the current hot correction list.
Note:
- <0> action is available only if you have at least one non-built-in correction list open.
- <CTRL+0> action is available only if you have more than one non-built-in correction list open.
- To open a correction list, use the Correction Lists editor.
- (Trial Version only): The free trial version cannot save data changes permanently. Though you can add new corrections into a correction list, those corrections are available in the current working session only; they will be discarded when you exit Asutype. If you want to save your data permanently, use the full version instead.
View more suggestions
If your intended word is not listed, press <LEFT> and <RIGHT> arrow keys to view more suggestions.
Note
- You can change any hot key used to interact with the suggestion pop-up window such as <F2>, <DELETE>, arrow keys etc. by modifying the appropriate hot key in the Hot Keys Options dialog box.
- You can change the type face and font size used to display choices by modifying the "Pop-up font" option in the Flagging Options dialog box.
